The One With the Drum
If you could tell the meaning between each word. If you could feel the silence within each comma. If you could hear the cry behind every...

Writing poetry is my way of expressing emotions that I do not normally say out loud or sometimes, I can not find the words to describe. I love writing poetry to show others that it’s okay to feel, it’s okay to talk about things, and it’s okay to just be. In the end, actually listening to your emotions can help you grow, but bottling them up can lead to destruction. Letting them out through words, through poetry can heal a soul from pain that is generational. At Least that's how I feel when writing, like everything that is sealed in a bottle, slowly releases itself sailing free with the ocean waves.
I have even read the work of other poets and I think it’s so cool how poetry gives you a view inside someone’s mind, not just what they see, but how they think. Poetry is like a peek into one's inner world whether the poem is about love, racism, pain, joy, questioning life, even poems about movies or books. It is their thoughts, it's their Roman Empire. To me, poetry is a mix of imagination and truth. It’s not just writing, it’s a form of expression that says what a drawing can not or what photography can not capture. Poetry holds things that no picture could ever fully describe.
Some say my poems are sad but for me they're a breathe of fresh air. Random words coming to together standing strong and bold. To say it's okay, sadness it bad it's apart of life. That happiness always wins, even in the pitch black dark. And I want everyone to know that and feel it for themselves.
