Photographer's Journey
Photography started for me on my family’s road trip to California in 2023. I brought this old camera that used to be my grandma’s. Not all of photos were concerned good or even perfect, honestly some were blurry, made no sense or just not what I wanted. I'm still learning how to use a camera, but with each day I pick that camera up, I figure out new things like new filters and new techniques. There is such an adventure of learning through a camera, it has definitely helped me see art in a new perspective. Able to capture time in a little digital box, like a moment in history that many can see no matter where at or what time. It’s like your movement being traced even if you are not in the photo. Like seeing the world through someone's else eyes. A glimpse into what draws their intention. That’s what each picture means to me, a moment in my eyes, a glimpse into my world. I think people sometimes overlook how special it is. It freezes the movement of life, the motion of waves, the stillness of mountains, people just living their lives and that is really powerful. After that first trip, I started bringing my camera with me every road trip even if I don't go on many, even if they're not perfect. I’ll take pictures of anything I think is pretty and even if it’s not technically pretty, it’s still a memory. That makes it beautiful in its own way. All this to say do not be scared to begin. One moment, one random event, can literally change your life. From what I’ve learned over this past year that trying new things, even if they feel random or small, can lead to the most beautiful parts of life.
